30 Dec Your support fuels the V-Day movement, it makes everything possible
2024 marked the twenty-sixth year of V-Day, a year during which survivors, artists and activists gathered together, channeling art and creativity with a shared vision and mission for a world free from violence. They rose to address the devastating consequences of the ongoing vicious systems of patriarchy, fascism, capitalism and racism in the world today and the destructive battle for power fought over women’s bodies and the Earth.

This year, V-Day and One Billion Rising activists once again shattered traditions, transformed systems and changed culture. ONE BILLION RISING global coordinators and teams worldwide staged over 1100 art and activism risings/events across 90 countries localizing the call to RISE FOR FREEDOM, highlighting the most pressing issues within their communities as well as calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a durable peace, one rooted in dignity, freedom and justice for all. This Fall, activists launched the 2025 theme, RISE FOR FREEDOM, RISE AGAINST FASCISM, and, as we write, are planning their main rising events for the Rising season from V-Day through Earth Day (14 February – 22 April). RISE with us, plan an event in your city/town/university, read the OBR blog and catch up on what’s in the works, and be sure to check out the new activist toolkit and video.
