V-Day Supports Grassroots Efforts to End Violence Against Women

NEW YORK, NY, February 9, 2001 — Random House Audible, a partnership between Audible, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBL) and Random House, Inc., today announced the exclusive e-audio edition of The Vagina Monologues written and performed by playwright and activist Eve Ensler is available for digital download and streaming for $10.95 at
www.audible.com/monologues.

“I am very happy that the sales of The Vagina Monologues from audible.com will help support V-Day and the expanding movement to stop violence against women,” said Ensler.

The Vagina Monologues is a moving, poignant and often hilarious play, which celebrates female sexuality in all its complexity. Originally drawn from a collection of more than 200 interviews conducted by Eve Ensler with women from all walks of life, the Obie Award-winning play gives voice to some of the most intimate, rarely shared female fantasies and fears. Hailed as a new generation of women’s bible of self-expression and self-awareness, the play has been performed in cities all around the world. The play has also inspired the V-Day movement that supports international organizations and programs that work to end violence against women and girls.

“We’re thrilled to bring this joyous and moving performance to men and women who haven’t yet had the opportunity to see the play on stage, but can now hear Eve Ensler’s performance when and where they’d like,” commented Beth Anderson, vice president and publisher, Random House Audible. “Eve’s dedication to the V-Day cause is so inspiring and integral to the play that we wanted to make a financial contribution to support the crusade against violence.”
