NEW V-Moment: 'As I Walk To Prison' by Mu Sochua
Mu Sochua is a Cambodian politician, activist and Nobel Prize nominee. She founded the first women's organization in Cambodia, Khemar, and in 1998 became the first woman ever to be elected into Parliament and hold a seat in the Women's Affairs Ministry. Mu Sochua has worked extensively to end sex slavery, including negotiating an agreement with Thailand allowing Cambodian women trafficked as sex workers to return to their home country instead of being jailed. She was nominated for a Nobel Prize for her work against sex trafficking of women in 2005.
In the past year, after witnessing first hand the ongoing injustice against the people of her country, specifically the women, Mu Sochua filed a lawsuit against Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia who has ruled the country for over 30 years. As a result she faces persecution and prison.

V-Day Proudly Supports Work of AIDS Free World
In July 2008, a leading human rights group in Zimbabwe working with women and girls appealed to AIDS-Free World for help. AIDS-Free World's legal team, with the help of pro bono lawyers from DLA Piper, set out to document evidence of a well-orchestrated, politically motivated campaign of rape and sexual violence directed at women and girls associated with the political turbulence around the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), the then opposition party in Zimbabwe whose followers threatened to unseat President Robert Mugabe.
V-Day was proud to make a grant to AIDS Free World to support this critical work. Interviews with survivors ranged in length from three to six hours each and were memorialized in sworn affidavits. To date, AIDS-Free World has completed 53 interviews.
After AIDS-Free World finishes the documentation and collects more evidence about the perpetrators, they will explore arenas in which they can pursue legal action, such as the International Criminal Court. They are working towards UN and African involvement, both in bringing attention to the issue, and in ending the climate of impunity.
